Celebrate, Educate, Stop Hate presents a free screening of Jonathan Menendez's film Gay LAtino LA | Coming of Age on Thursday, April 25 at 6:30pm.
Gay Latino L.A: Coming Of Age is a docu-drama journey into adulthood of three young men and their search for identity while dealing with issues of family, machismo, religion, culture, and life in LA. An immigrant hipster from Mexico, a Berkeley graduate and Salvadoran activist and a Mexican American from South Central LA who wants to get away from the gang life share their journeys with us.
Reception - 6:30pm
Screening - 7:00pm
Q&A Panel - 8:30pm
The Q&A will include the director Jonathan Menendez and at least two of the cast members.
Celebrate, Educate, Stop Hate mobilized in the summer of 2012 to address a hate crime that occurred in Echo Park against two young men perceived to be gay. Celebrate, Educate, Stop Hate meets on the second Monday of every month at 5:00pm at the Cathedral Center of Saint Paul in Echo Park. The public is welcome to attend.
