WHAT: Hinduism and Judaism are among the oldest still-existing religions in the world. They share the status of being “mother religions,” in that they have “given birth” to other major religions. For example, Hinduism has given rise to Jainism and Indian Buddhism, and Judaism gave rise to Christianity and Islam.
Join us for a discussion among leading religious thinkers, who will explore the similarities and differences of Hinduism and Judaism – as they pertain to theological and cosmological concepts, scriptures, laws and moral and purity codes.
WHO: The Rev. Dr. Gwynne Guibord, Founder and President of The Guibord Center, will introduce a conversation with: Dr. Barbara Holdrege, Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at University of California, Santa Barbara; Dr. Graham Schweig, Director of Studies in Religion at Christopher Newport University, Virginia, and Distinguished Teaching and Research Fellow at the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley; and Dr. Joseph Prabhu, Professor (Emeritus) of Philosophy at California State University, Los Angeles.
This event is FREE and open to the public. For more information contact Yolie Carillo, Assistant to the Rev. Dr. Gwynne Guibord, email@example.com or 323- 333-4664. Registration is required at https://theguibordcenter.org/event/hinduism-judaism/.
