The James Eads How House, built in 1925, is an example of architect Rudolph Michael Schindler's work right here in Silver Lake .Richard Neutra designed the garden behind the house, which was completely updated and remodeled for the 21st Century. The house has 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and has 2426 square feet of living space. It also sits on a 14,461 square foot lot . The home was listed at $1,495,000 and sold for $1,300,000 on 4/17/2012. It is an amazing use of concrete, glass, and the modernistic style.
Schindler was born in Vienna, Austria on September 10th in 1887. He graduated with a degree in architecture from the Wagnersschule of Vienna Polytechnic University in 1911. In 1920, architect Frank Lloyd Wright brought him to Los Angeles to work on the Barnsdall House. From 1922 to 1952, Schindler designed a list of homes and apartment buildings in and around Los Angeles. He died there August 22ed, 1953.
