Lee writes:
"About 9 years have passed, since I learned about and began to fall in love with the Los Angeles Eco-Village (LAEV), back when it was the fiscal sponsor of the Time Bank I was active in. Twenty-six years ago, Lois Arkin co-founded LAEV and its intentional community to demonstrate more ecological and cooperative living patterns: socially, economically and ecologically. 'We’re about reinventing how we live in the city in ways that can expand public options for a higher quality of life at a much lower environmental impact.'
"Now in her 80s, Lois still give tours twice monthly. She's a force. Now an LAEV board member, I love treating friends, acquaintances, and other contacts to the occasional tour. I see an upcoming opportunity! Won't you join me on Sunday, Jan. 27? Feel free to invite a guest. If you are a member of the Time Bank, I will happily pay your admission with "time dollars" I have earned over many years of Time Bank exchanges.
"Topics Lois is likely to touch on (and can expand on) include: affordable housing, beekeeping and chickens, bike and pedestrian safety, brownfields restoration, co-housing, co-ops, composting, conflict resolution team, Ecological Revolving Loan Fund, fiscal sponsorship for newly-forming organizations, green housing retrofits, greywater, incubation of green businesses, intentional communities, lowering carbon footprint, myco- and phytoremediation, organic gardening, permaculture, public transportation, recycling, shared art projects, sharing economy, sociocracy (dynamic governance), solar energy, sustainability."
