The Silverlake Independent Jewish Community Center is opening its doors for us to heal and to celebrate today, Sunday, July 22, 7:30 to 10:30 PM, 1110 Bates Ave, Los Angeles, California 90029. They will supply light refreshments, although I imagine potluck contributions would be welcomed. Representatives from community and city government will join with us, along with experts in supporting children and adults after a traumatic event. Please invite friends and neighbors.
A shooting and hostage crisis yesterday, July 21, at Trader Joe's creates a need for coming together. Leondardo Chalupowicz, community leader and co-founder of the Micheltorena School Community Garden passed on Friday morning. The remains of Nina and Lisamaria Del Campo of Casita del Campo were laid to rest at Forest Lawn Glendale in the afternoon on Friday, July 20. At the after-party at Casita, I realized how interconnected I am to generations of our community. Let's come together. We have much to heal and to celebrate.
