Greetings Community Partners,
This email is to inform you that as of January 1, 2016,
AB 1733 Public Records: Fee Waiver (Quirk-Silva, 2013-2014) is now in full implementation. This means that not only can people experiencing homelessness obtain a free copy of their California birth certificate, but a free California identification card as well. With full implementation, this law will reduce barriers to housing and services by allowing homeless service providers to better assist people in need of their help.
Homeless service providers must fill out the following forms for their clients to receive their free identification documents (hyperlinked)
CA Birth Certificate:
CA Identification Card
Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to LAHSA.
Thank you for your service and partnership,
Jessica Reed, MPP| Policy & Planning Analyst
