*UPDATED: It's Easy Being Green -The Stairs Get a Bike Rail in Silver Lake

The rest of the story - New Bike Rail Installed on Glendale-Hyperion Bridge

We featured this story a month ago and the blog post received nearly 500 views. As an update, here's a link to show how the sister cities program helped inspire this solution. And how this bike rail is inspiring other simple fixes throughout L.A. Click on: Los Feliz Ledger - Tom LaBonge.

Don't be surprised to see these bike rails on staircases through L.A. soon.

Cyclists who wish to use the Glendale-Hyperion Bridge from Riverside Drive will find a new bright red bike wheel rail, which has been recently installed. The new rail will be a great amenity for cyclists, who can slide their bicycles up the stairs without having to carry them. The installation comes in direct response to constituents who complained to Councilmember Tom LaBonge about the difficulty of bringing their bikes up the stairs. The rail now helps to connect Silver Lake residents to the Los Angeles River bike path. Those who wish to use the rail should cycle southbound on Riverside Drive and then ride just past the Archstone Los Feliz Apartments at 3100 Riverside. The new rail will be on your right. Happy cycling from Councilmember Tom LaBonge!

When I was a teenager I road my bike up and down Hyperion Bridge several times a week. Fun ride on the way down.

That looks like a lot of teenagers with broken bones to me.  ;)

I can't wait to use it the next time I ride!
