The Silver Lake Neighborhood Council (SLNC) Arts and Culture committee is happy to announce the Silver Lake Electrical Box Art Project taking place April 13 through April 21^st, 2013 at a variety of public locations throughout the neighborhood. This year, 8 local artists and 1 youth group participated in designing and creating artwork for electrical boxes in the community, expanding on current locations from the first wave in 2011 (primarily along Sunset Blvd) now to Melrose & Hoover on the south side of Silver Lake, up around the west side to Rowena & Hyperion, and finally, around the bend to Silver lake Blvd & Glendale.

The objective of the project is to beautify the neighborhood, decorate public space, and showcase local community and artists. This 2013 expansion is the second round of painting electrical boxes in the community, supported with approval of the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council, LA City Council-President Eric Garcetti's office, and donations from local Silver Lake businesses, including Baller Hardware. 

More photos from this year’s project are being added as the boxes are painted/decorated to the SLNC Arts & Culture Committee Facebook page and will also be featured on the main SLNC Facebook page, on the SLNC website, (https://www.facebook.com/Silverlakenc) and in the next SLNC newsletter.
