We* envision a neighborhood council that builds and nurtures community. To that end, we are endorsing the candidates who are the most progressive and engaged, and who we think are most likely to embody civility and invite participation.

Special Note on student candidates we recommend
You may have received or might receive incorrect information about the candidates from John Marshall High School. We are recommending five out of a total of nine running, ALL of whom have been certified as eligible by the city's Department of Neighborhood Empowerment, either as residents or active members of a Silver Lake organization, not only to run but to vote on major issues before the board; that is in our council's own bylaws. The requirement of the city for voting on FUNDING issues before the board requires that every member be at least 18 and have passed the city's funding training course; two of the students we recommend are already 18, and others will be reaching that age this year. All are currently in the high school Leadership class where they have learned governmental procedures and are enthusiastic about participating in our local council and were recently recognized by our mayor with an invitation to participate in his Leadership 101 course at City Hall. We believe they are fully qualified to represent us, or we would not be recommending them.
