ONE OF OUR FELLOW SilverLakeStar community members, Teresa "Lucha" Sitz, is the one who designed our current masthead. She's like that. She feels a neighborhood need, fills it, and moves on! For three years she's given all she could to serving on the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council. I believe everyone would agree that she gave from her heart, both her talents and time. Thanks, TS

Dear Fellow SLNC Board and Silver Lake Community Members,
It is with sadness, and a bit of relief, that I inform you of my resignation from the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council effective immediately.
It has been my honor to serve the neighborhood of Silver Lake these past three years. What I have learned about community work and local politics I doubt I could have learned at any university. It’s been, to say the least, an education.
I thank you for your faith in me, for your comradeship, for your patience, and yes, even for your occasional (and in some cases, continuous) hostility, for it is in disagreement that we often learn and grow the most.
My two bits – take it or leave it.
Please, spend the money as fast as you can, so you can get on with the real neighborhood work, fighting for the rights of the near 50% of Silver Lake residents who live within or below 200% of the poverty level – and within 200% in Silver Lake is NOT enough to live on. I know that some of you felt I hobbled the council with social justice issues, but if you want to be relevant to everyone (and go to heaven) you cannot ignore these.
As far as my reasons for leaving – life is short. I put in three years and worked really hard. Other people and places are calling me and to honor them I need to let go of the SLNC.
