Thank you for sharing: KPCC Public Insight Network

89.3 KPCC Southern California Public Radio recently asked listeners and sources in the organization’s Public Insight Network to describe the kinds of conversations they were having in their communities. The Public Insight Network is a group of people who share their experiences and insights with the KPCC newsroom. The network allows KPCC to provide the highest quality news and information.

Here are a few of the questions we recently asked and the stories that came about.

What does it mean to be a good citizen?

KPCC launched a new series, #ProjectCitizen, that looked at the privileges, rights, responsibilities and traditions that come along with being a U.S. citizen. We asked about the civic duties and cultural responsibilities that are part of citizenship. Followers on Facebook and Twitter as well as sources on the Public Insight Network have provided their thoughts.

What’s the story behind your name?

The Social Security Administration recently released a list of the most popular baby names in the United States, listed by state. KPCC has the 100 most popular baby names in California listed here. We then asked listeners, social media followers and listeners–what’s the story behind your name?

The piece “#MyName: The importance of names and what they say about you” is a compilation of social media and source feedback.

How do you watch TV?

The ongoing fee dispute between Time Warner Cable and CBS Corp. has prompted several conversations within the KPCC newsroom. We asked listeners how they currently watch their favorite programs...and whether they were planning to make a change.

Pamela Ezell of Orange was one of the sources who responded.
“Well, I'll be ticked about missing 60 minutes,” Ezell told KPCC.  “And I'll be ticked about missing 'Under the Dome', even though I think it's kind of silly.”
