By Carole Nese and Don Snyder
If you are ever in the mood for Broadway music and live entertainment for breakfast, just drop in on The Los Angeles Breakfast Club on Riverside Dr. in Los Feliz every Wednesday morning at 7am. No, you are not dreaming when you are pleasantly greeted by smiling faces of members who welcome newcomers with a friendly handshake. You will then be offered another cup of coffee and a wonderful breakfast buffet complete with sausage, bacon, toast, pastries, fresh fruit and oatmeal, whatever your pleasure. You won’t have to sing for your supper either; there is no charge for the first meeting.
The breakfast may be wonderful but the best is yet to come. Just as you stir a spoon full of sugar in your freshly refilled cup of coffee, the meeting and entertainment begins.
You may never love a piano as much as you do when world renowned entertainer Don Snyder starts his opening number cuing the start of the meeting. You’ll find yourself snapping your fingers and tapping your feet to the meeting program agenda. After taking care of club business, there is a speaker representing one of the many philanthropies that The LA Breakfast Club Foundation assists through generous donations. Their annual giving program supports many worthy and familiar nonprofit organizations.
And then comes the entertainment. The club offers the best top o the morning entertainment around with repertoire standards from the libraries of such greats as George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin. All of this along with the best of musical theater and performers from the classical world of piano and voice.
The Los Angeles Breakfast Club continues traditions dating back to their inception in 1925. That is when the titans of Los Angeles business and Hollywood movie moguls created and populated this club. Luminaries such as the Warner Brothers, W.C. Fields and Walt Disney invited their dear friends Clark Gable, Charles Lindberg and Eleanor Roosevelt to speak at the club and enjoy the warmth and friendship.
So why not join in and become a part of the great history? You will be glad to wake up and get out of bed every Wednesday to musicians, dancers and entertainers.
Good morning greetings, freshly cooked eggs, bacon, sausage and professional entertainers others pay to see. You’ll walk out with a song in your heart. Isn’t that what dreams are made of?
So treat yourself to Broadway for breakfast once a week. Now that’s entertainment!
