According to Patch, homes and roll down doors in three districts will now be able to display murals.
Will this be the best legislation for those areas? Will Silver Lake's CD13 and CD4 want to follow suit?
Concerns expressed on KPCC's blog that murals could increase graffiti are probably unwarranted. Graffiti artists tend to respect the art of others and murals can reduce the appearance of graffiti.
Community standards of decency and cohesive aesthetics would be primary on my list of concerns, as they should be for commercial properties' murals, posters, bus benches and shelters, banners and bill boards.
I commend the City Council for creating gradual change, which is more likely lasting change. And you get to work out the bugs before going universal. The national health care revision would probably be best done on a smaller scale initially.
