Council District 4 released a highly-anticipated study, which was commissioned to analyze the impact of the so-called “Rowena Road Diet,” instituted in 2013. Rowena Avenue serves as a major thoroughfare to and from California State Route 2 (SR-2) and Interstate Highway 5 (I-5) and as an alternative for connecting the eastern and western portions of the City of Los Angeles.

The study was funded by CD4 and conducted by Kimley-Horn, a planning and design consulting firm, during 2017-2018. According to the report, the study focuses on the traffic patterns along Waverly Drive and Angus Street as these streets relate to Rowena Avenue.

“The Rowena Avenue, Waverly Drive, Angus Street Cut-Through Traffic Study was done to resolve the pressing issues of cut-through traffic and pedestrian safety,” Estevan Montemayor, Councilmember Ryu’s spokesperson, said. “Any safety improvements from this study will be implemented after more community discussion and public input.”

As is our tradition, the SLNC will work with Council District 4 to hold a community forum where members of the community can provide direct feedback regarding the safety improvement recommendations provided in the study."
