Profile Information

A little about me
Michael Locke began his real estate career in 2002, after successful careers as a high school football coach in suburban Washington, D.C. and in corporate equipment sales for the Ingersoll Rand Company. For more than 30 years, he has been investing in a wide range of real estate holdings with partner Andrew Jelmert. In 2002, Michael joined Andy at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Los Feliz, along with Michael’s wife Donna Jean Titus (formerly of Titus Real Estate). Within the year, both Michael Locke and Andy Jelmert distinguished themselves as Architectural Specialists by the firm's ARCHITECTURAL DIVISION in recognition of their knowledge and record of accomplishment listing and selling architecturally- significant properties.

After a decade of accomplishment at Coldwell Banker and a two year interlude associated with Keller William Los Feliz Realty, the pair made the switch to Deasy, Penner & Partners in November 2012. "The decision was an easy one and long overdue", according to Michael. "In changing firms Deasy/Penner was the only one we took under consideration; their 'architectural and design-centric emphasis dedicated to home as art®" perfectly suits our philosophy."

Michael Locke is deeply involved in the community. While living in Silver Lake, he served as Vice Chair of the local neighborhood Council (SLNC) and founded the Silver Lake Beautification Committee. An accomplished photojouirnalist, he is Publisher and Editor of "The Silver Lake News " and writes a column for the "Los Feliz Ledger" . He lives with his wife Donna Jean in the historic Durex Model Home ("La Casa Contenta) in Los Feliz with their chihuahua-mix dog Maggie and thier pet caique (parrot), Zach. They are members of the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles where Michael serves as trustee and is Chair of the Building and Grounds Committee. They are also active members of the Los Feliz Improvement Association, where Michael serves as a Director and regular contributor to the Los Feliz Observer. He is currently writing a book about the history of Silver Lake and organizing the Silver Lake Historical Society. Michael may be reached at (323) 533-3161 or (323) 644-3338

Who was Herman Silver? The Silver Lake Historical Society Wants You to Know! The Silver Lake Historical Society holds organizational meeting at the Silver Lake Library November 13th

One might easily assume and with good reason that Silver Lake got its name from its shimmering waters, particularly if gazed upon at dawn's early light. Not so! Although it makes a lot of sense, Silver Lake is the namesake of one Herman Silver, a German Jewish immigrant who rose to prominence in Los Angeles to become the President of the Los Angeles City Council and Acting…
