According to LA.Curbed.com, having comparable rents to Silver Lake is one reason Atwater Village is in a runoff with Historic Core for Neighborhood of the Year. Curbed rightly credits Bon Vivant for adding to Glendale Blvd. And how about The Morrison that is scheduled to open to the public today on Los Feliz Blvd. at the former Kuma Sushi location? (That's the old Uncle John's Pancake House to those of us who grew up in Atwater before it became known as a "Village".) With polls open for 24 hours from some time yesterday (Wed. 12/19), LA.Curbed.com voters may not consider the new gastro pub.
Either way, at The Morrison's opening, landlords can drink to the higher rents and tenants can still afford to chase a haggis slider with an ale.
How will you vote? As for me, I've spent five years putting Atwater Village on people's mind maps through local advertising. I voted for AV. And tonight I'll be learning about getting out another vote with Wendy Greuel's volunteers at her call center. Will callers tell Angelenos how Wendy can make L.A. City of the Year?
