LaBonge Encourages Christmas Tree Recycling
Although it isn't meant for artificial greenery or non-biodegradable ornaments, the green bin works great for getting the tree out before it becomes an inferno waiting to happen.
From CD13's weekly email: Councilmember Tom LaBonge stood with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to publicize the Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation's curbside Christmas tree recycling program this morning. Last year, the city collected more than 100,000 trees. Putting your tree in your green waste bin is easy: simply remove all decorations, cut the tree into pieces, and put them in the green bin for regular pick-up on collection day. You may also place your tree next to the other bins on the curb. There will also be a Sunday tree drop-off on January 6 at locations across the city. For more, visit: lacitysan.org/tree-recycle.htm.
